Five Rifle Members Receive All-American Honors

FORT WORTH, Texas - Fresh off their first-ever NCAA National Championship, five members of the TCU rifle team garnered All-American honors. Three members were selected as both smallbore and air rifle All-Americans. Senior Erin Lorenzen was honored as the Most Outstanding Athlete of the championships by the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association.
Sarah Scherer, Sarah Beard and Lorenzen were honored as both smallbore and air rifle All-Americans, while Simone Riford and Caitlin Morrissey garnered All-American honors in air rifle.
Also recognized were five seniors who achieved All-American status for four years. Two of those five were TCU team members in Lorenzen and Riford.
Scherer was crowned the NCAA Smallbore National Champion Friday and Erin Lorenzen notched a fourth-place finish. On Saturday, three Frogs competed in the air rifle finals, with Lorenzen finishing second. Scherer tallied a fifth-place finish and Morrissey rounded out the field with an eighth place finish.
