COLUMBUS, Ohio - Sabine Rasch put her name at the top of a TCU all-time performance list for the third time season Friday at the U.S. Short Course National Championships inside the Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatics Pavilion.
TCU also landed two 200-medley relay teams in the finals to go along with Laszlo Gyurko qualifying in the 100-backstroke and Edgar Crespo qualifying in the 100-breaststroke.
Rasch finished 34th overall in the 100-butterfly with a time of 55.40. It was the fastest time in TCU history and the second time in as many days that Rasch has broken a TCU record.
The Luckenwalde, Germany, native now holds the TCU records in the 50-freestyle, 100-freestyle and 100-butterfly. Her most recent record in the 100-fly bettered the previous mark of 55.41, set by Erica Tate in 2005.
Gyurko's 100-backstroke preliminary time of 48.92 was the second-fastest time in TCU history, as he becomes only the second Horned Frog to break the 49-second mark.
His time of 48.92 was the second-fastest in school history until he bettered in the finals. Gyurko won the bonus heat in the final in 48.25 for a 21st-place finish overall.
The Szekszard, Hungary, native previously held the fourth-best time on TCU's all-time 100-backstroke list when he clocked a 49.22 earlier this year.
After qualifying for the 200-medley relay finals with a time of 1:30.34, which was the third-fastest time on TCU's all-time 200-medley relay list, the Frog team of Gyurko, Crespo, Andy Garcia-Montes and Rourke Barrett clocked a 1:30.68 in the finals for 10th place.
The TCU team of Jeff Gettel, Edgar Peyro, Friedrich Grott and Devin Price also earned a spot in the finals with a 1:34.43 in the preliminaries. They followed with a 1:35.02 in the finals for a 19th-place finish overall.
In the 100-breaststroke finals, Crespo notched a 54.63 to finish in 17th-place overall. It is the second year in a row, the Panama, City, Panama, native has posted a top-25 performance at the U.S. Short Course Nationals.
In the 800-freestyle relay, a finals-only event, the TCU women's team of Rasch, Maria Paula Alvarez, Amanda Vincent and Katie Scarsella touched the wall in 7:27.93. It is the fourth-fastest time in TCU history.
The TCU women's 200-medley relay team of Jennifer Oster, Michelle Fleming, Rasch and Parris Schoppa finished 24th overall in a time of 1:46.94.
The Frogs will finish competition tomorrow at the U.S. Short Course National Championships.
