FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU rifle team returns home to host a pair of matches this weekend. The Horned Frogs will take on Kentucky Friday afternoon then turn around and host Nebraska on Sunday. All matches will take place at the TCU Rifle Range.
About The Horned Frogs:
The TCU rifle team is undefeated in four outings this season. The Frogs took home first place honors at the Ole Miss Invitational to open the season and have recorded dual match victories over UTEP, West Virginia and Murray State.
The Frogs have been led by the usual suspects as Sarah Scherer and Sarah Beard have been shooting at a high level in all four matches. Mattie Brogdon has turned in solid performances as well, setting a personal best in air rifle against West Virginia. Caitlin Morrissey has also been on her game, turning in strong scores in each event.
About the Wildcats:
Kentucky is on a roll entering Friday's match up. They have dished out three defeats on the season as well as taken home first place honors in a three-team match that they hosted two weeks ago. The Wildcats victories have come at the expense of Murray State, Army and Tennessee-Martin. Kentucky has turned in four solid aggregate scores on the season, shooting no lower than a 4,655. All four of the matches thus far have been played in Lexington.
The Wildcats are a co-ed squad that is high on experience. Henri Junghänel is the shooter to watch for the Wildcats as he has posted the top scores for Kentucky as well as shooting in a World Cup Event in October.
About the Cornhuskers:
Nebraska comes into the weekend with a 2-1 record. Most recently the Cornhuskers fell to Air Force on Oct. 23. The loss came on the heels of victories over Memphis and Army. Similar to Kentucky, the match will be Nebraska's first journey away from home.
The Cornhuskers return five members from last year's team. The shooter to watch for Nebraska is Ryann McGough, an ultra-talented senior on the squad. Janine Dutton is also a shooter to watch as she has been one of the top shooters in the first three matches.
