FORT WORTH--Work is well underway on the $105 million renovation of historic Amon G. Carter Stadium. Demolition began in earnest this week in preparation for the 8 a.m. implosion on Dec. 5 of the west side upper deck of the stadium.
Crews began ripping out part of the lower stands on the west side over the weekend, and a wrecking ball started battering away at the signature tower structure in the southwest corner of the stadium on Tuesday. The tower, part of the stadium's original construction in 1930, formerly housed offices of several TCU athletics staff members, as well as the opponent football locker room.
