Horned Frog Quick Notes
TCU will look to open the year 3-0 for only the third time under head coach Jeff Mittie.
Emily Carter has made 50-straight free throw attempts, which spans over eight games. Needs only 16 more to tie NCAA record of 66-straight.
TCU and UTSA will be playing for only the third time in program history Wednesday night. The last meeting between the two schools was in 2008.
The Frogs will face UTSA in San Antonio for the first time in the all-time series.
FORT WORTH, Texas - No. 23/25 TCU will open its road season Friday night against UT San Antonio. Start time is set for 7 p.m. from the UTSA Convocation Center.
The Horned Frogs moved to 2-0 on the season Wednesday night with an 87-73 double overtime victory over cross-town rival SMU. Senior Emily Carter scored a school record 43 points and sophomore Starr Crawford grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds to lead TCU to victory.
Following its road-opener against UTSA, the Frogs will head to the U.S. Virgin Islands for the 11th Annual U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam, which will be shown live on Fox College Sports Broadband. The Horned Frogs will open the tournament Thursday, Nov. 25 against No. 11/10 West Virginia. Following its Friday afternoon tilt against nationally ranked Iowa State, TCU will close play in the Virgin Islands on Saturday, Nov. 27 against Virginia. All three opponents played in the NCAA Tournament a year ago.
The All-Time Series
When TCU takes on UTSA Friday night it will mark the third meeting between the two Texas schools. The Horned Frogs currently own a 2-0 lead in the series and will be taking on the Roadrunners for the first time in program history away from Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. In their last meeting, TCU scored a 73-60 decision over UT San Antonio in 2008. Helena Sverrisdottir had an all-around solid game for the Frogs with 18 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists.
TCU and the Roadrunners only other contest came in 1995 when the Purple and White dropped UTSA, 78-58.
Overall, the Frogs have outscored UT San Antonio by a combined score of 151-118 in their previous two meetings.
Scouting UTSA
UTSA comes into Friday night's contest with an overall record of 2-0. The Roadrunners have defeated Our Lady of the Lake and Huston-Tillotson to open the 2010-11 season.
In its last outing, senior Alysse Davis recorded a double-double, while junior Ashley Gardner scored game-high 16 points to lead UTSA to an 87-47 win over Huston-Tillotson last Sunday at the Convocation Center.
The Roadrunners, who will be playing their third-straight game at home, have been led by Gardner this fall. She brings a 16.5 scoring average into Friday night's contest. Overall, five different players are averaging double figures in points.
Carter Has Career Night
Senior Emily Carter had a career night against SMU. Overall, the Louisiana native posted seven career-best marks Wednesday night. Not only did Carter set a school record with 43 points, breaking Amy Sutton Porter's previous record of 39 set against Air Force in 1999, but she also went 16-of-16 at the charity stripe, which is a personal-best in both attempts and free throws made. She has now gone eight-straight games without missing a free throw. Her last miss from the free throw line came on Feb. 16, 2010 against San Diego State.
Overall, Carter has made 50-straight attempts from the charity stripe, which sits No. 4 all-time in the NCAA. Ginny Doyle of Richmond holds the NCAA record with 66-straight between 1991-92. Carter's 43 point game Thursday night is the second-best mark in MWC history. By going 16-of-16, Carter tied a MWC record for most free throws made in a single game.
Hitting The Boards
In its 87-73 double overtime victory over SMU, TCU recorded 64 rebounds, which is the fourth most in school history. The Frogs out-rebounded the Mustangs by 20 boards, marking the largest advantage since recording a 41-30 advantage over BYU Feb. 3, 2010. Sophomore Starr Crawford led the Purple and White Wednesday night with a career-high 18 rebounds, which is tied for the seventh-most in a single game in school history.

TCU To Be Broadcast On Fox College Sports Broadband
The TCU women's basketball program received word Tuesday that all three of its upcoming games at the 11th Annual U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam will be shown live through Fox College Sports Broadband.
Brenda VanLengen will broadcast all 12 women's basketball games live online during the Nov. 25-27 tournament. Live streaming will be available for a one-time fee of $4.99.
