FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU wide receiver Jeremy Kerley has been named the Rivals.com Mountain West Conference Player of the Week for his performance against San Diego State.
Kerley had three first-half touchdown receptions, including a pair of scores just 1:46 apart, to give the third-ranked Horned Frogs a 34-14 halftime lead.
En route to its 24th consecutive regular-season victory, TCU had a 40:51 to 19:09 edge in time of possession and held San Diego State to three first downs in the opening three quarters. The Aztecs had just 38 yards rushing for the game and were 2-of-11 on third-down conversions.
A senior from Hutto, Texas, Kerley totaled a career-high eight receptions for 85 yards. He posted the first three-touchdown game of his career and became the first Horned Frog since Jimmy Young in 2008, versus Wyoming, with three touchdown receptions in a game.
Kerley added 85 return yards against San Diego State as TCU improved to 19-0 in games in which he scores a touchdown.
Kerley, who has tied Mike Renfro's 1977 TCU single-season record with 10 touchdown catches, is the 13th player in Horned Frog history to reach 50 receptions in a season. He has a team-high 50 catches.
