FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU rifle team posted a solid victory over The Citadel, defeating the men's squad 4,693-4,372 and the women's squad 4,693-4,176. Sarah Scherer led all shooters with wins in air rifle (596) and smallbore (583). TCU set a school-record with a 2,371 in air rifle, a mark that is the highest in the NCAA in almost five years. The Frogs remain undefeated on the season.
:Scores are indicators of performance and what a great performance for Catherine with her personal best score of 594 in air rifle," raved head coach Karen Monez. "This team just continues to excel. Their record-setting air rifle aggregate of 2372 has set a new standard for the team. The aggregate score is not only a new team record, but also is the highest air rifle aggregate score to be fired by a NCAA rifle team in nearly five years."
The Frogs fired a solid score of 2,321 in smallbore. The Frogs took home the top five spots in the event. After Scherer's first-place finish, Sarah Beard came in second with a strong score of 582. Caitlin Morrissey fired a 580 to finish third. Catherine Green shot a 576 to finish fourth and Mattie Brogdon shot a 571 for a fifth place finish.
A similar scenario played out in air rifle as the Horned Frogs tallied the top five finishes. Scherer led all shooters with a 596, followed by a career-high 594 for Green. Morrissey fired a 593 to finish third and Beard a 589 for a fourth place finish. Brogdon rounded out the top five with a score of 585.

The Frogs return to the firing range on Nov. 21 when they travel to Alaska for a pair of matches against the Nanooks. TCU will also shoot against Alaska on Nov. 23.
