"TCU Volleyball is pleased to have these two dynamic athletes," remarked Lewis. "Mattie has strong blocking techniques with a heavy arm. Stephanie is a solid right side blocker with a whip for an arm. Being left-handed, she will provide a new look for our offense. These athletes will help provide a formidable lineup for the 2011 season and beyond."
Burleson, a middle blocker from Edmond, Okla., has been a four-year star at Edmond Memorial High School. In October, she helped lead her team to a second consecutive Oklahoma 6A State Championship. Following both championships, Burleson was tabbed as an all-state performer.
In addition to her high school success, Burleson has excelled at the club level. Her club team placed third at the Junior Olympics in 2009. She earned All-American honors and was named to the Junior Olympic all-tournament team. She was also a member of the 2009 Oklahoma Region High Performance championship squad.
Holland, a right side hitter from Dallas, is a four-time letter winner at J.J. Pearce High School which is currently ranked No. 1 in the state of Texas in Class 4A. Winning follows Holland wherever she goes as she helped lead her 17 Open club team to a National Championship this past summer.
After guiding Pearce to a state runner-up finish her junior season, she earned first-team all-district honors and was named Attacker of the Year by the Dallas Morning News. Prepvolleyball.com ranked Holland as the 79th top sophomore after she earned district Newcomer of the Year honors. As a freshman, she was named Co-Offensive Player of the Year in addition to earning second-team all-district honors. Holland is also a three-time first-team academic all-district performer. Burleson and Holland will be freshmen in the fall.
