
Volleyball Set To Host Pair Of League Matches

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU volleyball team returns home this weekend for a pair of league matches. Thursday the Horned Frogs will welcome Wyoming to the University Rec Center for a match that will be televised live on The Mtn. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. The weekend concludes with a match against No. 13 Colorado State at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
OF NOTE
Saturday's match against the nationally-ranked Colorado State Rams will be free to the public.
TCU NOTABLES
The Frogs dropped a tough match at New Mexico in their only action last week. TCU returns home for two games where they have posted a 7-5 record.
The Horned Frogs rank 24th nationally in attendance with an average of 1,328 fans per game.
Irene Hester continues to pace the league in kills per set (3.66), aces per set (0.39) and points per set (4.26).
The Frogs continue to be a defensive juggernaut, leading the league with an average of 16.55 digs per set.
With an appearance against Wyoming on Thursday night, Irene Hester will move into ninth place all-time in matches played at TCU. She has played in 121 matches in her career.
Irene Hester and Christy Hudson are nearing milestones. Hudson needs just four kills to reach 1,000 for her career, while Hester needs 14 kills to reach 1,000.
WYOMING NOTABLES
The Cowgirls enter the weekend with a 21-6 overall record and a 6-5 mark in league play.
They are coming off two conference victories against Air Force and UNLV.
They are just 2-4 in league play on the road with victories over BYU and Air Force.
Jodi Purdy is the leading offensive threat, averaging 3.29 kills per set.
Jadranka Tramosljanin paces the team defensively with an average of 4.26 digs per set.
THE SERIES
Wyoming holds a slim 9-7 series lead, but are just 2-5 all-time in Fort Worth.
The Frogs have won five of the last seven meetings despite losing in Laramie earlier this season.
TCU has a five-match winning streak over Wyoming in Fort Worth.
Since joining the league, the Frogs are leading the all-time series 7-4.
TCU was 0-5 against Wyoming as members of the WAC.
COLORADO STATE NOTABLES
The Rams enter the contest ranked No. 13 in the AVCA poll.
Colorado State leads the league with an 11-0 mark.
The Rams have won 13 straight heading into Thursday's contest, having lost just one set in their last six contests.
CSU leads the league in blocking by a healthy margin, averaging 3.01 blocks per set.
Megan Plourde is the league's top blocker (1.53 bps) and her partner in crime at the net is Brieon Paige (0.94 bps).
The Rams also lead the league, limiting opponents to a .120 attack percentage.
THE SERIES
Colorado State leads the all-time series 12-4, but just 8-4 since the Frogs joined the MWC in 2005.
The Frogs and the Rams have split the season series each of the last three years.
The Frogs are 4-3 against the Rams in Fort Worth.
