FORT WORTH - Football's Tanner Brock and volleyball's Kristen Hester have been named Athletes of the Week, the TCU Athletic Department announced Tuesday.
Brock, a sophomore, recorded a career-high ten tackles in the 27-0 win at Colorado State. The Copperas Cove, Texas, native also recorded a fumble recovery.
His effort helped TCU secure its first road shutout in the Gary Patterson era. Brock's 10 tackles are the most in a game by a Horned Frog player this season on a unit that moved up to third in the nation in total defense after the win.
Hester led the Frog volleyball squad to two wins last week, racking up 23 kills in the two matches. The Fort Worth native was also credited with three aces during the Sept. 30 win over UNLV.
In the Oct. 1 win over Air Force, Hester scored 12 kills on 18 attempts. She averaged 3.29 kills per set for the two matches, bettering her season average of 2.29 kills per set. The 6-foot-1 junior averaged 1.0 blocks per set during the matches.
