Kirkpatrick Named Rotary Lombardi Award Semifinalist

HOUSTON -- TCU All-America center Jake Kirkpatrick has been named a semifinalist for the 2010 Rotary Lombardi Award, presented to the nation's top lineman.
Kirkpatrick is one of just two offensive players, and the lone center, among the 12 semifinalists.
Kirkpatrick sets the blocking scheme on each play for the fourth-ranked Horned Frogs. He is instrumental in TCU ranking seventh nationally in scoring (39.9 points per game), 10th in rushing (270.6 yards per game) and 11th in total offense (480.1 yards per game). The Horned Frogs are also tied for 10th nationally in allowing just five sacks (0.63 per game) this season.
A senior from Tyler, Texas, Kirkpatrick was one of six finalists last year for the Rimington Trophy, awarded to the nation's top center.
Kirkpatrick, who can dunk a basketball, never played football until his senior year of high school at Robert E. Lee in Tyler.
