Boyce and Scherer Named Athletes of the Week

FORT WORTH - Football's Josh Boyce and rifle's Sarah Scherer have been named Athletes of the Week for the week of Oct. 18, the TCU Athletic Department announced today.
Boyce, a redshirt freshman, recorded career highs in receptions and receiving yards in TCU's 31-3 win over BYU last Saturday. The Copperas Cove, Texas, native grabbed eight catches for 127 yards.
He added touchdown catches of 35- and 20-yards. His 20-yard touchdown snag early in the fourth quarter put the Frogs on top 24-3.
Scherer took home first-place honors overall with an aggregate score of 1,179 in TCU's 4,687-4,600 win over UTEP last Saturday. Scherer, a sophomore, won the air rifle portion of the competition with a score of 595.
It was the Fort Worth native's second air rifle win of the season, after she won at Ole Miss two weeks ago. Scherer also finished second in the smallbore competition with a 584 total.
