
TCU Set For Early Morning Contest Against Utah

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU women's soccer team continues conference action Saturday morning against Utah at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium.Start time is set for 10 a.m. at Jane Justin Field. Admission into the early morning contest is free, but fans will have to pay for parking due to TCU's home football game against BYU at 3 p.m.
All-Time Series Breakdown
TCU's Saturday contest against Utah is the ninth meeting in program history. The Utes lead the all-time series, 5-3-0. In 2009, TCU faced Utah twice, falling both times, 3-1. During the 2009 regular season contest, the Frogs rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the second half, scoring a goal in the 83rd minute from 40 yards out.
Scouting Utah
Utah comes into Saturday with a 3-12-1 overall record and a 1-1-1 mark in conference play. The Utes are coming off a 3-0 setback to New Mexico on Thursday night. Overall, shots during Thursday night's contest were even at 13-13, but Utah did hold a 10-7 shot advantage in the second half.
The Utes have faced some very good competition this fall, including previously ranked Washington State, No. 22 UNC-Greensboro, No. 1 Stanford and No. 12 Santa Clara. Utah's three victories this season have come against Weber State, Utah State and Air Force.
Senior Laruen Hair has led the Utah offense this season, netting three goals, while also dishing out two assists. Overall, seven different players have scored for the Utes this fall, including Morgan Skeen who has posted one goal and three assists. On defense, Hannah Turpen has had an outstanding season between the posts, recording one shutout, while also making 73 saves.
Scouting TCU
TCU, who is 7-7-1 overall entering Saturday's contest, is coming off a 1-0 setback to No. 8 BYU on Thursday night. Overall, the Frogs recorded a 16-10 advantage in shot attempts, including a 10-5 advantage in the second half. Jackie Torda led the Horned Frog offensive attack with four shots, while Brittany Slyman, Jordan Calhoun and Kim Castleberry all posted three shots apiece, respectively.
Earlier this week, Calhoun and senior Kelsey Walters were selected as the Mountain West Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week on Monday. Calhoun became the all-time leading goal scorer in school history last Friday night, while Walters recorded eight saves to preserve TCU's first conference victory against UNLV.
The Purple and White, who are 4-4-1 at home this fall and 1-2-0 in conference play, currently rank No. 21 in the NCAA in scoring offense. The Frogs are led on offense by Calhoun, who has netted six goals, while also recording three assists.
