NOTES ON A SCORECARDFrom our volleyball and soccer teams both winning home matches Friday, to football defeating Wyoming on Saturday and a very successful Horned Frog Classic on Monday, it seems like every day is a great day to be a Horned Frog.
TOWN HALL MEETINGS
Our Town Hall meetings were very productive for us. Over the two nights, we thank the approximately 1,000 folks who joined us. We accomplished our goal of having our constituents provide valuable input and feedback as we prepare for the renovation of Amon G. Carter Stadium. For me personally, listening to everyone increased my knowledge base. We will not make decisions in a vacuum and look forward to continuing to hear from you. As we've said before, nothing has been formalized as far as seating, pricing and parking. We're just gathering information. We very much appreciate the efforts of Concussion Advertising in Fort Worth for assisting us in the marketing of this event. We are extremely fortunate to have such a tremendous team of leaders on our staff in associate athletics director of development Davis Babb and Frog Club director John Denton. They were instrumental in us hopefully being able to answer your questions. A special gratitude goes to the Frog Club staff as well as the Brown-Lupton University Union for their hospitality and handling all the logistics in making it possible for us to have such a great event.
A GREAT DAY ON THE LINKS
We'd also like to extend our thanks to the 248 golfers who participated Monday in the 32nd annual Horned Frog Classic Golf Tournament. Our great partners at Colonial Country Club host the event every year. Thanks to title sponsor Greenwood Office Outfitters and our many other supporters, this year's Horned Frog Classic raised an all-time record $240,000 for scholarships for our men's and women's golf programs. A special note of gratitude goes to the HFC Tournament Committee and the Frog Club staff for a successful and well-run event. The winning team of Craig Davis, Stephen Polanski, Chris Miner and Bryan Spain is off to Pinehurst next month to represent TCU in the Acura National College Alumni Tournament. Go Golfing Frogs!
FROGS FOR THE CURE
It was an absolute honor to help welcome Ambassador Nancy G. Brinker to TCU and Fort Worth Wednesday for a book signing at the TCU Barnes & Noble. Nancy is the founder and chairman of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Thanks to the leadership of Ann Louden, Frogs for the Cure has become a very important tradition at a home football game each year. This year's event is being held in conjunction with Saturday's BYU contest.
DID YOU KNOW
There are 17 private institutions in the Football Bowl Subdivision. Since 2005, we are tied with USC for the best record at 59-11 (.843). Among the 10 FBS programs in our state, we are just behind Texas (61-10, .859) for the best record over the last six years.
DEDICATIONS
We will officially dedicate the Jane Justin Field House at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium on Tuesday at 2 p.m. In just the few months it has been open, the facility has made a tremendous impact on the student-athlete experience for the women in our soccer program
KEEP THE TURNSTILES MOVING
In addition to our football game Saturday at 3 p.m. versus BYU, please make a point to catch our women's soccer team in action with home matches Thursday at 7 p.m. versus BYU and Saturday at 10 a.m. against Utah. We're averaging almost 41,000 fans per home date in football. We also rank among the national leaders in attendance in both soccer and volleyball. Making this feat even more impressive is that soccer and volleyball have been home on the same night twice this fall. Our volleyball program has a three-game winning streak and is on the road this week before returning home for a pair of matches next week.
OUR STORY
We hope you've had an opportunity to check out an exciting new addition to our Web site: This Is Our Story. It's an enhancement to GoFrogs.com that provides an inside look at our 20 sports and spirit groups with highlight clips, intro videos, head coach interviews and virtual tours of athletics facilities.
RENEWAL DEADLINE APPROACHING
As a reminder, the renewal deadline for men's and women's basketball season tickets is Monday. Single-game tickets will then go on sale. If you've been a season-ticket holder and would like to protect your seats, please make sure to renew by Monday either on-line (www.GoFrogs.com) or by dropping by or calling our athletics ticket office in the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. Both our men's and women's teams have very attractive home schedules. The men host the likes of USC, Northern Iowa, Houston and SMU, while the women welcome Georgia and Oklahoma to the DMC.
KEEP IN TOUCH
Please let us know if you ever have any questions or concerns regarding our program. This is also your program and we value your feedback.
Go Frogs!
