FORT WORTH—The TCU women’s basketball team, currently on a five-game winning streak, appeared in the Associated Press Top-25 poll for the first time since last season Monday. The Lady Frogs came in at No. 25.
TCU, 10-3 on the season, received its first national ranking since the squad was rated 24th last season on Dec. 15, 2008. The Frogs fell out of the poll the following week after having been ranked for five straight weeks. The squad climbed to as high as No. 19 in the poll last season following a road victory over No. 3 Cal on Dec. 7, 2008.
TCU collected 51 total points in Monday’s latest release of the AP rankings. Kansas, which TCU defeated earlier this season at the Junkanoo Jam in the Bahamas over Thanksgiving, sits just ahead of the Frogs in 24th place with 82 points. Arizona State (33 points) was the top squad in the other teams receiving votes category.
The other major national poll, the ESPN/USA Today coaches’ poll, will be released on Tuesday afternoon.
No. 25 TCU returns to the court Wednesday, when it begins Mountain West Conference play at Air Force. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT.
