
Rifle Continues Streak; Tops UTEP

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU rifle team put together another dominating effort en route to its seventh-straight victory as they defeated UTEP 4,636-4,551 Saturday at the TCU Rifle Range. Erin Lorenzen took home top honors with an aggregate score of 1,164 (575 smallbore; 589 air rifle).Four solid scores in smallbore got the Frogs started on the right foot as they won the event 2,294-2,247. Caitlin Morrissey shot a match-best 576 to pace the Frogs, followed closely by Lorenzen's 575. Rounding out the counters were Emily Paper with a 572 and Simone Riford, who shot a 571.
Though she didn't factor into the team score, Mattie Brogdon fired a 574, the third best mark in the event.
The Horned Frogs were strong again in air rifle as they claimed the 2,342-2,304 victory. Lorenzen's mark of 589 was second overall as she led all Frog shooters. Morrissey fired a 586 to finish third overall. Riford posted a strong score of 585 and Brogdon rounded out the Frog counters with a 582.
TCU is 7-1 overall this season. The Frogs will square off against UTEP on Feb. 6 in El Paso. The match will be the final tune-up before the NCAA qualifier. TCU will host that event on Feb. 13.
