For Munce, her third double-double of the season saw her tally 38 assists and rack up a career-high 19 digs. Otto's double-double featured a team-high 14 kills to go along with 10 digs. Christy Hudson and Irene Hester also reached double figures with 10 kills apiece.
In the first set, the Frogs staved off three set points before succumbing to the Bears 28-26. In a spirited, back-and-forth battle, neither team could ever build a comfortable lead. The teams battled through 20 ties and nine lead changes.
Baylor would take its biggest lead at 12-9 only to see TCU battle back with a 6-1 run to take a 15-13 lead. The serving of Irene Hester was helped along by kills from Lauren Otto and Christy Hudson. A 4-1 run by the Bears put them back in control and the Frogs would trail again until two straight hitting errors put the Frogs back on top 23-22. A Katie Sanders kill tied the game and a block by the Bears gave them control of the set and they held on for the set one victory.
A strong effort by the Frogs in the second set enabled them to tie the match at a game apiece as they took a 25-17 win. The Frogs took a 7-6 lead on a Baylor service error and never looked back. Strong serving from Munce that saw her drop in two of her three aces in the set helped the Frogs build a five-point cushion at 12-7.
Baylor got within two points, 17-15, but an Irene Hester blast gave the Frogs back the three-point lead. Another round of serving from Munce extended the lead to five, 22-17. A solo denial in the middle from Kristen Hester highlighted the run and Christy Hudson sealed the win with her fourth kill of the set.
Another rousing affair in the third set saw eight ties and one lead change. That lead change benefitted the Frogs as they rebounded from and early 6-2 deficit to get the 25-22 win for a 2-1 match lead.
With the set tied at 12, Otto dropped in one of her four kills in the set to give the Frogs a lead they would hold. Solid serving from Kristen Hester that saw back-to-back aces helped the Frogs build a 16-13 lead.
Though Baylor would fight back to tie the game at 20, the Frogs had an answer in Hudson, who delivered a timely kill to put the Frogs on top to stay. Otto ended the set with a cross court blast to seal the win.
Baylor stormed out to a 7-0 lead in the fourth set and rode it to a 25-9 victory to force a decisive fifth set.
Despite taking a 6-3 lead in the fifth set, the Frogs could not squash the Bears momentum as they used a 5-0 run to take an 8-7 lead. Ashlie Christenson sealed up the 15-13 set five win to end the Frogs nine-game winning streak in five-set matches.
TCU drops to 2-2 on the season. The Frogs return to tournament play Friday afternoon in the UConn Tournament. TCU will face New Hampshire in its opening contest at 4 p.m.
