FORT WORTH, Texas - GoFrogs.com continues its look back at the most memorable season in women's soccer history on Tuesday with the No. 6 play of the 2008 season.
For the next three weeks, GoFrogs.com will continue to take a look back at the 10 most memorable plays from the 2008 women's soccer season. At the end of the three weeks, women's soccer fans will have a chance to vote on what they believe is the top play of the 2008 season.
The Horned Frogs will open the 2009 season on August 21 against the University of Texas in Austin.
Below is what GoFrogs.com believes to be the No. 6 play of 2008.
Trailing 1-0 against the University of Texas on Sept. 19, the Horned Frogs came out of halftime firing on all cylinders.
The No. 6 Play Of 2008
In the 50th minute of the match, freshman Jordan Calhoun found the back of the net off an assist by Lindsay Holmes. On the play, Holmes played the ball into the box from about 25 yards out allowing Calhoun to place the ball into the upper right corner of the net past UT goalkeeper Dianna Pfenninger.
The Significance
Holmes' assist to Calhoun put fear into the No. 7 team in the country early in the second half allowing TCU to gain the momentum for the rest of the second period. Texas would need a double overtime goal in the 106th minute to upend the Purple and White in front of 2,161 spectators at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium.
