FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU senior midfielder Kelly Faerber once again sat down with GoFrogs.com to give fans an inside look into the TCU soccer program this summer. This is the third installment of Faerber's summer journal.
Faerber's Summer Journal
Last week many of the girls arrived in Fort Worth to help out with the TCU soccer camps. The girls seemed to survive the heat just fine, but the sun definitely seemed to take it out of them.
After a long week of coaching camp and keeping up with workouts everyone was ready for some downtime. This past weekend was dedicated purely to rest and relaxation. Some of us got together to watch movies, bake a birthday cake and bond with teammates.
Tara Magdos, Katie Taylor and Jenna Hayes all seem to be enjoying their new home.
Kelsey Walters recently finished attending some goalkeeping camps and has proven her amazing cooking skills. Danika Powers has been traveling coast-to-coast and taking vacations in California and Maine.
Kathleen Mellano has a new look as she recently cut 13 inches of her hair off to donate to Locks of Love.
Hannah Kunnemann has plans to go canyon jumping and waterfall climbing in Switzerland this week and has recently been traveling around Europe. She has visited different destinations in Germany and Italy, but will be returning home soon.
We have also gotten acquainted with incoming freshmen Leigha Leonard this summer. She is currently taking summer classes at TCU, which has allowed us to show her around Fort Worth a little bit. She has been a great new addition to the team.
My newest project has been figuring out a design for a fun team t-shirt. Also many of us are looking forward to a trip out to Lonestar Park on Friday for the Eli Young Band concert.
We have also arranged a couple of fun scrimmages in the coming weeks to get out and knock the ball around. This weekend some of the girls are attending the Chelsea vs. Club America game at the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium.
It's hard to believe that two-a-days starts in only two weeks. This summer feels like it has flown by. However, it has been very enjoyable and everyone is very excited for our season to start. Our first scrimmage is about 20 days away!
Lastly, I want to wish a very Happy Belated Birthday to Kaitlyn Shelledy and 2008 senior Caroline Starns. They both celebrated this past weekend.
Go Frogs!
