FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU rising sophomore women's golfer Brooke Beeler has qualified for the 2009 United States Women's Amateur Championship after carding a 2-under-par 69 in a sectional qualifying round in St. Charles, Mo.
Beeler will compete at the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship Aug. 3-9 in St. Louis, just outside her hometown of Butler, Ill.
Beeler tied Stacey Keating of Australia for the low round among the 67 participants in the St. Charles, Mo., qualifier. Beeler did not have a bogey until her 12th hole.
"I started off pretty good," Beeler said. "I hit the ball solid, especially on the fairways and greens. I was also putting well."
It's been a successful summer for Beeler. She qualified for the Michelob ULTRA Duramed FUTURES Players Championship in Decatur, Ill. She was also the third-place amateur at the Texas Women's Open.
Beeler had a standout freshman season for TCU in 2008-09, tying for third on the team with a 75.8 stroke average. She had three top-10 finishes, including tying for fourth at the Mountain West Conference Championship. Beeler was second at October's Windy City Classic in her native Illinois.
