FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The following are quotes from the first day of competition at the 2009 NCAA Championships.Darryl Anderson
"Jessica Young made it into the finals after a two-hour delay, so I was pleased that she was able to come back like she did after sitting in the basketball arena for almost two hours with the tornado delay. This was a major step for her in her development as a domninate sprinter. The next step for her will be Friday."
"I thought Kishelle Paul ran well today and I was pleased with her efforts in advancing in the 400-meter hurdles."
"I thought Whitney Gipson did some really good things for us today in qualifying for the finals in her first NCAA Championships."
"The men's 4x100 team figured out a way to make the final today. We had a mishap in what we had been running, but they were able to move forward with Mark Barnes running for Andon Mitchell and get into the final. That is really all that matters at this point."

"It means a lot to make it to the finals. It was my only objective coming in and I would have not been happy if I would have waited all this time and not qualified."
