NORMAN, Okla. - The following are quotes from TCU head coach Darryl Anderson and respective student-athletes following competition at the 2009 Midwest Regional on Saturday.Darryl Anderson
"I thought we had a pretty good day today. Our women had an outstanding day in getting fourth in a very stacked region. For us to be able to come in here and bring home fourth on the women's side, it say's a lot about how far the kids have come as a team. On the men's side, we just have to get tougher. I was proud of Otis McDaniel today in the 100 meters. I thought he found a way to qualify for nationals."
"I thought Kishelle Paul had a good day today. It was the second year in-a-row that she won the regional, which is outstanding."
"Neidra Covington really stepped up today for us. She qualified for nationals, which was really nice to see."
"Jessica Young did an exceptional job for us in both the 100 and 200 meters."
"When you add everything up on the women's side, we had a lot of seasonal and personal-bests this weekend. We also qualified a pretty good contingent into the national meet."
"Both relays are probably going to get into nationals on the men's side with the 4x100 getting an automatic and 4x400 receiving an at-large bid."
"I was glad that the men's 4x100 got an automatic, but I thought we could have ran a lot better. I thought the 4x400, which we had to manufacture at the end of the meet because of some injuries, did an outstanding job today in getting fifth-place. They are going to get an at-large bid and should thank Mychal Dungey for being able to do that because he ran really well for them."
"At the end of the day, we are going to start getting ready both mentally and physically for the NCAA Championships in two weeks."
Neidra Covington
"I felt really prepared going into the meet and it all just worked out. I almost cried when I saw my jump. I was in total shock."
Justyn Warner
"We got into the NCAA meet in the 4x100 and that is all that matters for us. We didn't run well at all, but we just have to go back to the drawing board and correct our mistakes. I know we can do it, we just have to continue to work hard in practice."
Kristal Juarez
"This feels so good right now to qualify for nationals. Really, it feels like God put some wings on me and helped me fly around that track."
Kishelle Paul
"I am happy that I was able to win the regional title again. I thought that my teammates helped me get through both of the relays because I didn't run too well, but we qualified for nationals, which is always good. Overall, I am very pleased with how today went for us."
Jessica Young
"I am tired and worn out. I felt like I had a full schedule, but I am proud of myself and the team today. I thought we all did a good job overall. I am confident that we can have a good showing at the NCAA Championships."
Otis McDaniel
"I am really excited that I was able to qualify for nationals in the 100 meters. It is a really big thing because I never thought I would be able to qualify in an individual event this year. I think I showed everyone how much heart I have because I have only been back now for about three months. To qualify as an automatic, I am really thankful right now."
