FORT WORTH, Texas - With the 2009 spring season wrapped up, GoFrogs.com recently sat down with TCU senior forward Lizzy Karoly to get her thoughts on the Horned Frogs this spring.
How has your spring season gone?
"This spring season has been a ton of fun. We have been practicing and playing at a very high level to get ready for next season. The games we played this spring were very tough, but overall I think we performed well as a team. Everyone has really stepped it up a notch. Practices have become very competitive as players are fighting for starting spots."
Have you learned anything about the team this spring?
"I have learned a lot about the team this spring. I learned that everyone is willing to make sacrifices and put in all the hard work to become one of the top teams in the country. I have also learned more about individual playing styles of players. Being able to learn the style of play of each of your teammates is very important because it helps you bring out the strengths in each of your teammates."
What do you expect this next season?
"I have very high expectations for next season. Our team has been working hard all year long and we are ready to compete with the best in the country. Some of our goals include winning conference and the conference tournament, while also competing for an NCAA Championship."
What are your goals going into the summer?
"My goals for the summer are to work on a couple of specific aspects of my game. I want to focus on the little details in my runs, touch and reception of the ball. I think that by working on specific aspects of my game it will really give me an advantage when it comes to playing top teams."
Has this spring been different then other ones you have been associated with?
"This spring brought an atmosphere that I have never seen on the TCU fields. Every day at practice there is a ton of energy, excitement and competitiveness. Spring season is a long season and in the past our level of play would drop as the weeks went on. This year was very different. Our level remained high throughout the entire spring. Everyone kept fighting for starting spots and striving to get better and it has been so much fun to practice at such a high intensity for so many weeks in a row. I think it shows that next year we will be ready to take on anyone."
Other then soccer, what have you done for fun this spring away from the field?
"School has been pretty hectic for me, but I have managed to fit some fun things in my schedule. For spring break, I went to Destin, Fla., with a bunch of friends. The weather was amazing. It was a great way to relax and take my mind off of school for a while."
