Frogs Hold Top Spot at MWC Men's Golf Championships

The TCU men's golf team concluded its first day of action on Thursday with a seven-stroke advantage over the field at the Mountain West Conference Championships in Tucson, Ariz., at the Tucson National Golf Resort.
The Horned Frogs - who have four golfers listed in the top-10 - notched a first-round tally of 276 while San Diego State (283), New Mexico (284), UNLV (289) and Colorado State (291) round out the top five.
Tom Hoge (Fargo, N.D, | Fargo South H.S.) currently holds the top spot on the leaderboard as the TCU sophomore finished the first day of action with a career-best score of four-under-par score of 67.
Freshmen Johan de Beer (Pretoria, South Africa | Pretoria Boys' H.S.) and Alexander Knappe (Brilon, Germany | Berufs H.S.) both recorded a two-under-par score of 69 en route to finishing the day tied for fourth overall.
Senior James Sacheck (The Woodlands, Texas | Zionsville H.S.) posted an even-par score of 71 en route to tying for 10th overall while Travis Woolf (Fort Worth, Texas | Paschal H.S.) posted a 12th-place showing with a one-over-par score of 72.
The second round of the Mountain West Conference Championships will be held on Friday at the Tucson National Golf Resort.
