
Horned Frogs Remain Second At MWC Championship

SEASIDE, Calif. -- TCU shot a 302 and is in second place, nine shots back of New Mexico, after Friday's second round of the Mountain West Conference Women's Golf Championship.
The Horned Frogs lowered their team score by three shots from Thursday's opening round but lost ground to the Lobos, who carded a 297 and are at 598 for 36 holes. TCU is at 607. BYU is in third place, 11 strokes behind the Frogs.
TCU freshman Brooke Beeler had a 1-over-par 73 and is tied for third individually at 148. The Butler, Ill., native is three shots behind leader Jonelle Martinez of Wyoming who is at 145. Martinez holds a two-stroke advantage over New Mexico's Jodi Ewart.
For the second straight day, TCU's Rachel Raastad and Valentine Derrey posted identical scores. Their second-round 76s have them tied for 10th at 153.
Allyson Ferguson had a 77 for TCU and tied Beeler and Prisela Campbell for team-high honors with two birdies.
Saturday's final-round action begins at 9:30 a.m. Central. Live scoring is available at www.golfstat.com.
