
Horned Frogs Finish Third Overall at National Invitational Tournament

The TCU men's golf program posted a third-place showing following a three-under-par team score of 861 at the National Invitational Tournament at the Tucson National Golf Course in Tucson, Ariz.
The University of New Mexico captured the National Invitational Tournament championship with a team score of 850 while Arizona (857), TCU (861), UNLV (863) and California (868) rounded out the top five.
James Sacheck (The Woodlands, Texas | Zionsville H.S.) nearly captured his first collegiate title as the TCU senior finished second overall with a seven-under-par score of 209 (71-68-70), which was the best three-round score of his career. The TCU captain fell two strokes shy of the tournament crown, which was claimed by a 207 by Nick Geyer of New Mexico.
Johan de Beer (Pretoria, South Africa | Pretoria Boys' H.S.) recorded his third career top-10 finish as the TCU newcomer finished fifth overall after notching a three-round score of 213 (68-72-73), including tying a career-best 68 in the first round of action.
Tom Hoge (Fargo, N.D. | Fargo South H.S.) posted a 29th-place finish with a score of 221 (75-69-77) while Travis Woolf (Fort Worth, Texas | Paschal H.S.) finished 43rd overall with a 54-hole tally of 223 (73-77-73). Scott Roudebush (Austin, Texas | Austin H.S.) finished tied for 71st overall following a score of 230 (73-74-83).
Alexander Knappe (Brulin, Germany | Berufs H.S.) - who was competing as an individual - finished 18th overall with a two-over-par score of 218 for the second top-20 finish of his TCU career.
The Frogs return to the link at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Texas on March 30-31.
