
TCU Begins West Coast Trip With Fresno State

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU women's tennis team will challenge No. 37 Fresno State at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center. The Horned Frogs will look to avenge the two-match losing skid they have suffered against the Bulldogs in the last two years.
Tonight's match will mark the first of five-straight road matches for No. 21 TCU (5-6). The Frogs have endured a 3-3 record away from the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center, snagging a visiting victory over No. 24 Texas A&M in College Station on March 6. Sophomore Katariina Tuohimaa was a big contributor for the Frogs last week, tacking on a pair of straight-set singles wins over the Aggies and No. 19 Michigan. The Helsinki, Finland product also teamed up with newcomer Kayla Duncan to clinch the doubles point at Texas A&M.
Fresno State (4-4) is coming off back-to-back 7-0 shutouts over Pacific and Penn. The 37th-ranked Bulldogs boast two singles players ranked in the ITA top-25 in No. 14 Melanie Gloria and No. 25 Anastasia Petukhova, while also spotting No. 88 Renata Kucerkova on the ITA list. Fresno State also enjoy one of the best doubles program's in the country as Kucerkova and Petukhova are rated as the top doubles duo, while Gloria and Tinesta Rowe are listed at No. 9.
All four of the Bulldogs losses have come against teams currently ranked in the Campbell/ITA top-25; No. 7 Georgia Tech, No. 9 UCLA, No. 12 Clemson and No. 23 Florida. The Bulldogs have been ranked as high as No. 12 in the country as a team this season.
