
TCU Jumps in Latest ITA Team Rankings

FORT WORTH, Texas - After upending No. 24 Texas A&M in College Station and dropping a close match with No. 19 Michigan, the TCU women's tennis team returned to No. 21 in the ITA team rankings. The Horned Frogs spent a week at No. 26, but now return to the position held from Feb. 8-28.
TCU (5-6) will take its new ranking on the road for the next five matches, battling No. 37 Fresno State and No. 48 Pepperdine this week. Sophomore Katariina Tuohimaa was a big contributor for the Frogs last week, tacking on a pair of straight-set singles wins over the Aggies and Wolverines. The Helsinki, Finland product also teamed up with newcomer Kayla Duncan to clinch the doubles point at Texas A&M.
Fresno State (4-4) is coming off of a 7-0 win against Pacific and will take on Penn before hosting TCU Thursday night. The Bulldogs boast two singles players ranked in the top-25 in Melanie Gloria (14) and Anastasia Petukhova (25), while also spotting Renata Kucerkova on the ITA listing at No. 88. Fresno State is also one of the best doubles program's in the country as Kucerkova and Petukhova are rated as the top doubles duo, while Gloria and Tinesta Rowe are listed at No. 9.
Pepperdine (5-5) faces a tough home stand this week, hosting No. 41 SMU, No. 60 William and Mary before taking on the Frogs on Saturday. The Waves suffered a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to No. 8 UCLA before bouncing back to sweep UNLV 7-0 last week. Alex Liles and Anamika Bhargava will enter the week tied for the 79th doubles ranking.
