HONOLULU, Hawaii - In a three-way match against Air Force and Nevada, the Horned Frogs claimed first-place honors at the Aloha Invitational with a final score of 4,541 over the weekend.
Junior Erin Lorenzen claimed two gold medals in air rifle and smallbore. The Frog also took top-team honors.
A native of Hawaii, Simone Riford garnered the bronze medal in both air rifle and smallbore.
Riford's third-place finish was won on a tiebreaker over Nevada senior Andy Hickey. Freshman Mattie Brogdon placed second in air rifle.
In its outdoor match, the Horned Frogs had to battle high winds on their way to firing a team score of 2260. TCU was able to post a team air rifle score of 2281.
The Frogs now turn their attention towards the 2009 NCAA National Championships. The match will be fired in Fort Worth on the campus of TCU. Last year TCU finished third in the nation.
