FORT WORTH, Texas - In the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll, the TCU women's tennis team had a singles player and doubles duo advance to a higher ranking Thursday. Junior Nina Munch-Soegaard rose six spots to No. 6 in singles action, while the senior doubles tandem of Macall Harkins and Anna Sydorska jumped to No. 13 in doubles play.
Munch-Soegaard is currently 5-0 to begin the year with all of her wins coming against ranked opponents. The sixth-ranked junior from Amarillo, Texas has claimed the highest ranking for the Frogs since Nicole Leimbach in 2006. Three of Munch-Soegaard's wins have come against players that are currently ranked in the top-25.
Harkins and Sydorska have gotten off to a 2-3 start for the year after teaming up to go 22-7 in 2008. This season, the pairing has recorded wins over teams from Florida State and William and Mary. Sydorska was recently named to the Mountain West Conference 10th Anniversary team from her efforts with teammate Ana Cetnik in 2007.
TCU is preparing to take on the No. 62 North Carolina State and No. 10 Miami (Fla.) on Saturday and Sunday, respectively at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
