
Rifle Completes Action at Winter Airgun Championships

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU rifle team wrapped up competition in the Winter Airgun Championships at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Sarah Scherer took home top honors in the women's junior competition for the third straight day, while Sarah Beard established a new career high with a tally of 399.
For the third day in a row, Beard fired a personal best, finishing with a 399. She took home top honors in the event after winning the final with a strong tally of 104.1 for a final score of 503.1. She claimed the victory over two-time Olympians Emily Caruso (502.2) and Jamie Beyerle (502.1). Scherer also shot a 399 in the qualifier, but finished fourth after shooting a 102.2 in the final.
In the women's junior competition, Scherer finished first for the third straight day. She tallied a 399 in the preliminary round and shot a 104.2 in the final for a score of 503.2. Beard took home second place honors after shooting a 102.4 in the finals for a score of 501.4.
Caitlin Morrissey was in sixth place in the women's junior competition after the preliminary round with a 391 but was unable to shoot the final as she had a flight to catch.
