TCU Enjoys Day Two of Short Course Nationals

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - TCU returned to the water with another strong outting on the second day of the 2009 AT&T Short Course National Championships at the at the Weyerhaueser King County Aquatic Center.
The Horned Frogs' 200-medley relay of Lazslo Gyurko, Edgar Crespo, Friedrich Grott and Josh Bagby turned in the top performance of the day, finishing seventh in the finals with a time of 1:31.07. TCU also placed 11th in the 800-free relay with the team of Gyurko, Bagby, Rourke Barrett and Edgar Peyro finishing with a time of 6:48.24.
Crespo also took home 23rd place honors in the 100-breast out of a field of 76 swimmers, tapping in with TCU's fifth fastest time of 56.12, just ahead of Peyro, who placed 54th at 57.95. Peyro got the best of Crespo in the 100-fly, finishing in 34th place at 49.92, while Crespo earned 38th with a clocking of 50.22.
On the women's side, sophomore Ashley Bolin took 52nd place honors in the 400-IM with a time of 4:31.26, while junior Maria Paula Alvarez claimed 57th place in the 200-free, clocking in at 1:51.86. Madi Rupp and Jennifer Oster finished back-to-back in the 100-fly, taking 67th and 68th place, respectively, while junior Brittney Martinez competed in the 100-back, taking 71st at a time of 58.66.
TCU will return to the water Saturday, competing in the 200-back, 100-free, 200-breast and 200-fly.
