FORT WORTH--TCU football showed that the holidays really are the season for giving Thursday by delivering 488 turkeys donated by Kroger Co. stores to the Tarrant Area Food Bank.
Kroger made a pledge prior to the start of the 2009 campaign to donate one turkey for each point scored by the TCU football team during the season. The Horned Frogs went on to score a school-record 488 points during their perfect 12-0 run, a total that ranked No. 4 among the nation's 120 NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision programs.
Four Frogs, wide receiver Curtis Clay, quarterback Andy Dalton, center Jake Kirkpatrick and offensive tackle Marshall Newhouse, helped Kroger make good on its promise Thursday by aiding in the delivery of the turkeys to the Tarrant Area Food Bank.
