
Rifle Halts Nebraska's Win Streak

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU rifle team snapped Nebraska's five-match win streak with a 4,651-4,615 victory Saturday. Freshman Sarah Beard set a personal best in air rifle with a 589. Sarah Scherer continued her strong campaign with two personal bests with a 588 in smallbore and an aggregate score of 1182.
Scherer took home top honors in smallbore with that personal best as the Frogs came away with the 2,298-2,291 victory over the Cornhuskers. Erin Lorenzen fired a 578, while Caitlin Morrissey (567) and Emily Paper (565) helped the Frogs come away with the win.
In air rifle, the Frogs tallied the top three scores as they took the 2,353-2,324 win. Scherer continued her dominance in the event as she fired a 594. Simone Riford took home second place honors with a 588 followed closely by Lorenzen's 587. Rounding out the Frog shooters was Morrissey who fired a 584.
The Frogs are off until January after finishing the first half of the season with a 5-1 record. Included in that mark are two tournament victories. The Frogs will travel to Air Force for two matches at Air Force on January 16 and 17.
