FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU men's and women's swimming and diving teams will host Mountain West Conference foe Wyoming Saturday at 1 p.m. CT at the University Rec Center.
The men's team (2-0 overall, 1-0 MWC) will look to keep the momentum going in the Frogs' home opener. Junior Jeff Gettel has gone undefeated in the 100- and 200-backstroke events this fall, while sophomore Edgar Crespo has yet to lose the 100- and 200-breaststroke this season. Junior diver Kyle Callens has yet to lose a springboard event, claiming MWC Diver of the Week honors after each of the Frogs' first two meets.
The TCU women's squad will enter the meet against the Cowgirls with an overall record of 5-2, including a 1-2 clip against the MWC. The Frogs are coming off of a three wins over UC San Diego, the University of San Diego and Idaho, despite a hard fought loss at San Diego State on Nov. 6. Seniors Stephanie Futscher and Jennifer Ferguson continue to dominate in their respective events this season. Futscher, and Irving, Texas native, is 3-0 in the 200-fly, while Ferguson hasn't lost from the springboard events.
TCU will look to hand the Cowboys and Cowgirls their first losses of the 2009-10 season. Wyoming's men are 4-0 with a pair of wins coming against North and South Dakota, while the women's team is 6-0, boasting wins against North Dakota, South Dakota, New Mexico and New Mexico State. The diving trio of Mark Murdock, Kyle Bogner and Stephanie Ortiz could challenge TCU's perfect 10-0 diving record this fall.
