Frogs Open With North Texas Relays Friday

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU men's and women's swimming teams will kick off the 2009-10 season Friday at the North Texas Relays at the Mansfield ISD natatorium in Mansfield, Texas. The meet will consist of 10 relay events with the TCU women pitted against Incarnate Word, North Texas, SMU and Tulane, while the men will battle Incarnate Word and SMU.
The H2O Frogs return four senior swimmers with Josh Bagby and Ben Biefnes on the men's side, alongside Stephanie Futscher and Crystal Shipps for the women. TCU returns seven record holders in 2009-10, including speedy freestylers Maria Paula Alvarez and Ashley Bolin. Sophomores Friedrich Grott and Laszlo Gyurko stormed onto the scene in January and are looking to build some early momentum for TCU this fall.

After the relay meet Friday, TCU will have a week to prepare for the season's opening dual meet on the road against Colorado State and Northern Colorado on Oct. 22.
