Lady Frogs Reach Out to Community

Several members of the TCU women's basketball team ventured out into the local community last week to take part in a pair of service projects.
The Lady Frogs, like many of TCU's athletic programs, take part in a variety of community service events each year. Several of these focus on interacting with the local youth community, including last week's two events.
Senior guard Eboni Mangum and Rachel Rentschler visited the West Texas Basketball Academy (WTBA) Wednesday, Oct. 21, to speak with children ranging anywhere from ages third to eighth grades. The event was held at Rentschler's alma mater, Fort Worth Christian High School. Included in the two Lady Frogs' appearance were an autograph session and mini shooting games with the children. The pair also spoke with the group about their lives as college student-athletes.
Last week concluded with junior guards Emily Carter and Helena Sverrisdottir and junior forward Micah Garoutte traveling to Arlington Friday, Oct. 23, for a Halloween trick or treat event at a local Girls Inc. chapter. Girls Inc. is a national nonprofit youth organization that provides educational programs to millions of American girls, particularly those in high-risk, underserved areas.
Carter, Garoutte and Sverrisdottir signed autographs and interacted with the children while providing giveaways during the Halloween-themed outing.
