The Frogs racked up 41 kills in the match and held the Cowgirls to just 26. Lauren Otto pitched in with nine kills, followed by Kristen Hester's eight. Megan Munce served up six aces in the match and dished out 32 assists. Irene Hester tallied five kills and finished with 11 digs.
TCU eked out a tight first set with a 25-20 victory. The set saw seven ties and three lead changes before all was said and done. Wyoming came streaking out of the gates and took an 8-6 lead before the Frogs turned on the offensive fire power. Irene Hester tied the set with a cross-court blast and Munce kept things rolling with a service ace. A block by Edwards and Christy Hudson put the Frogs up three, 13-10.
With the Frogs holding onto a 16-13 lead, Otto served the Frogs on a 4-0 run as they opened up a six-point cushion. Munce smoked back-to-back kills in the rally and teamed with Edwards on a block. Kills by Hudson and Irene Hester put the Frogs up seven, 22-15. A Cowgirl service error gave the Frogs set point and Katelyn Blackwood finished with a kill from the back court to lock up the early 1-0 match lead.
After three early ties in the second set, it was all Frogs as they cruised to the 25-13 victory. A Cowgirl service error put the Frogs in front to stay. A solo block by Kristen Hester in the middle spawned an 11-2 run that was highlighted by strong service efforts from Irene Hester and Munce. Otto dropped in two kills as did Hudson and Kristen Hester as the lead grew to 22-11. A blast from Irene Hester gave the Frogs set point and Otto finished the set with her third kill of the set.
Kristen Hester was huge in the second set as she racked up seven of the Frogs 16 kills in the set. Blackwood's defensive efforts saw her collect seven in the set.
Wyoming came out of the intermission and made a strong early push as it lead 8-6 earl, but with Otto behind the service line, the Frogs were able to take control of the set. Edwards pitched in with three kills to put the Frogs in front 11-9.
Back-to-back aces from Munce gave the Frogs a four-point lead, 14-10. Kristen Hester served the Frogs to a 20-13 lead as the Cowgirl errors continued to mount. A blast from Edwards made it 23-14 and a bad set by the Cowgirls gave the Frogs match point. Jodi Purdy hit the ball long to lock up the 25-15 set three victory.
TCU improves to 19-5 overall and 8-2 in league play. The Frogs will hit the road for two conference matches next week. First stop is a Thursday night match-up against San Diego State. Match time is set for 9 p.m. (CST).
