TCU Rifle Victorious In First Match of The Season

FORT WORTH, Texas-The TCU rifle team started the season with a victory against Nevada today at the TCU rifle range. The win over the Wolfpack gives TCU a seven match winning streak. The match was highlighted by Lauren Sullivan's performance in air rifle. She shot a 593 and also claimed a first place finish on the aggregate.TCU shooters claimed seven of the top-10 places in air rifle. Behind Sullivan's 593, Simone Riford placed second with a score of 588. Erin Lorenzen followed closely with a score of 587. The Frogs totaled 2338 points in air rifle while the Wolpack trailed with a score of 2305.
On the smallbore side, Tanya Gorin, the lone senior on the team, tied for first with a strong score of 577. Emily Paper placed fifth with a score of 574. Lauren Sullivan solidified her first place finish with a smallbore score of 572.
Mattie Brogdon had a strong debut in her first match as a Horned Frog. In air rifle Brogdon tallied a score of 587 landing her in second place. She scored a 576 in smallbore and finished in second place overall on the aggregate helping propel the Frogs to victory.
The Frogs will return to competition on Oct. 18th against the Citadel in Charleston, S.C.
