Frogs mourn loss of former tennis coach Crawford

Ken Crawford, former TCU men's tennis coach during the decade of the 1960s, passed away Aug. 3 at the age of 82.
Crawford guided the Horned Frogs from 1960-69 while also serving as Director of Tennis at Ridglea Country Club for over 30 years (1958-90). He was a standout on the court during his collegiate days at SMU and won Southwest Conference singles championships in 1945, 1950 and 1951. Crawford served in the U.S. Army from 1946-49.
In addition to his own tennis credentials, Crawford was the father of two Southwest Conference singles champions. His oldest son, Randy, won the 1977 SWC title for TCU and was the Frogs' first tennis All-American. Another son, Doug, won SWC championships for Texas in 1981 and 1982 while playing at the No. 5 position.
