
Kigen leads TCU runners in Waco

WACO, Texas - Festus Kigen finished third overall on the men's side to lead TCU at the Baylor Twilight Invitational on Friday night.Kigen, a 2007 NCAA qualifier, clocked a time of 18:40.93 at the Baylor Intramural Fields to finish in third-place in the 6K race.
On the women's side, Tanja Ivandic led the Purple and White, crossing the finish line with a time of 14:43.76. The Fort Worth native posted a 15th-place finish in Waco Friday night. She was followed by Asley Millerick who placed 21st overall with a time of 15:09.45, while junior Lisa Baity clocked a 25th-place finish.
Freshman Kelly Dawson had a strong showing in her first collegiate outing, taking 28th-place. She was followed by junior Dani Selner who placed 31st overall. Finally, freshman Allie Wyatt and senior Shannon Andrew crossed the finish line in 37th and 39th overall, respectively.
"I thought the girls competed well," said distance coach Shawn Winget. "The guys have some work to do, but they had moments where they looked good. Overall, I thought all of the freshmen did well and had moments where they competed hard. It was a good start to the season."
Overall, the TCU men finished in sixth-place, while the women placed third overall as a team.
TCU will next be in action on Sept. 6 at the North Texas Opener in Denton.
