FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU redshirt freshman defender Katie Taylor has been selected to participate in the United States Amateur Soccer Association (USASA) national camp. The camp will be held from July 3-6 in San Bernardino, Calif.
"Katie has worked extremely hard these last six months and will represent our program tremendously in California," said head coach Dan Abdalla.
Taylor, who will be part of the National B squad, is one of 50 collegiate players from around the country to be invited to participate in the national camp.
Taylor's invitation marks the third consecutive season and third time in the program's history that a member of TCU's soccer team has attended the tryout. Last season, junior midfielder Michelle Nguyen was part of the camp, while former TCU defender Karissa Hill attended the camp in 2006 and was selected to the USASA Women's National Select Team.
"It is a testament to the direction of our program that TCU will be represented for a third year in a row," Abdalla said. "She is a great kid and this is an outstanding opportunity for her."
Following the three-day camp, the participants will be narrowed down to an 18-player squad that will travel to Canada to play matches against the Canadian national team.
A native of California, Taylor redshirted last fall for the Horned Frogs.
