
Horned Frogs announce 2008 schedule

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU soccer program and Horned Frog Head Coach Dan Abdalla announced its fall 2008 schedule on Tuesday. The slate features a home match versus preseason nationally ranked Texas and contests with 13 teams that played in postseason competition.TCU's non-conference slate is highlighted by home matches against former Southwest Conference foe Texas, Ole Miss of the SEC and Stephen F. Austin, which qualified for the NCAA tournament in 2007. The Purple and White will play a total of eight non-conference matches at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium.
On the road, TCU will open the month of September with a road-match against Arizona State. TCU will also play away matches at Northern Arizona UT-San Antonio and Texas Tech, who played in Big 12 post-season action last fall.
The Horned Frogs' conference schedule consists of four home matches and three road matches. TCU will host New Mexico, Utah, defending conference regular season champion UNLV and defending MWC tournament champion BYU. TCU's MWC road schedule includes games at Air Force, Wyoming and San Diego State.
The Horned Frogs will open their regular season at home against NCAA tournament-qualifier Stephen F. Austin on Friday, Aug. 22. Following its game against the Ladyjacks, TCU will continue its home schedule against Xavier on Friday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. and Ole Miss on Sunday, Aug 31.
Following the three-match homestand, TCU will open road action against Arizona State and Northern Arizona on Sept. 5 and Sept. 7, respectively. The Frogs will return from NAU to play five-straight home matches against Rice (Sept. 12), East Tennessee State (Sept. 14), Texas (Sept. 19), Sam Houston State (Sept. 21) and Arkansas Pine Bluff (Sept. 26). TCU will travel to San Antonio on Sept. 28 to face off against UT-San Antonio before entering conference play with a home match against New Mexico on Sunday, Oct. 5. The Horned Frogs will quickly turn around and travel to Laramie, Wyo., to face Wyoming on Oct. 10 and Air Force in Colorado Springs on Sunday, Oct. 12.
Beginning on Thursday, Oct. 16, TCU will host NCAA qualifier BYU before an Oct. 18 home date against Utah. The Utes' match will be followed by a home date against UNLV on Oct. 24 and a late-season non-conference contest against Texas Tech, Sunday, Oct. 26.
TCU will end the regular season on Oct. 31 in San Diego against San Diego State. The Mountain West Conference tournament will take place on Nov. 5-8.
