FORT WORTH, Texas- The TCU equestrian team (4-7) returns to action Saturday in Mansfield, Texas against its I-35 rival, Baylor. The match up marks the second time this season the two have faced off. The first meeting came on Oct. 26 in Waco, as part of the Baylor Fall Tournament, in which the Bears defeated the Horned Frogs 8-4.
TCU will be looking to improve on its nation-best Western record of 10-0. Last time out the Frogs defeated Fresno State's Western team 7-1, for the largest margin of victory in school history. TCU's Hunt Seat team will also be looking to build off its previous outing, in which they were able to stay very competitive against a top opponent in the Bulldogs, before falling 4-3.
For Baylor, the Bears (7-9) will be looking to earn their fourth straight victory.. In recent weeks, they have defeated the likes of Kansas State and Fresno State. The game with the Horned Frogs marks the last game of the regular season, before the Big XII tournament March 28-29.
TCU could also set a couple of milestones at the conclusion of Saturday's game.
With a win in Horsemanship, Kindel Huffman would set the all time record for consecutive wins in a single event with 11.
With a win in Horsemanship, Chloe Baker would move into a tie for fourth for consecutive wins in a single event with five.
Following the contest with Baylor, the Frogs will have three weeks off before facing SMU, to wrap up the home-and-home with the Mustangs on March 29. It is hopeful that TCU will be making another trip to Waco in April, as the National Championships are being held at the Heart of Texas Fair and Rodeo Complex for the second straight year, April 17-19.
