TCU junior defender Sara Schneider once again sat down with GoFrogs.com this week and gave fans an inside look into a player's perspective on this spring season. This is the second installment of Schneider's weekly journal as the Horned Frogs head into spring break.
Second Installment
For all of you who were not at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium on Friday night you missed out on a great soccer game. I don't know if it was our hot purple jerseys or our beautiful play, but those Iowa State girls didn't know what hit them 90 minutes and three goals later.
We are working as hard or harder than any team in the nation and it definitely showed Friday night. We really communicated well, which made everything flow much easier. It was also very clear our shape was phenomenal. I don't think I have ever felt better after running down that Iowa State forward.
All my girls worked very hard and I am so proud of them. Katie Taylor and Kaylie Garcia played their first game since redshirting all last season. They really contributed to our win and we are all super glad they are back. One of our goals for this spring is to not lose at home. That is our field where we practice everyday and it feels awesome to defend it respectively.
This week we will be doing testing with Dr. Upton. He records our progress with things like a mile-run, vertical jump, one rep maxes and a nice V02 max run on the treadmill. Then it is off to Vegas for spring break! Some of the other girls are going to California to hangout on the beach, while some are just going home.
We will have a couple weeks after spring break until our next game against Stephen F. Austin. This time will allow us to sharpen some things up. Even though we played a great game, we are always looking to get better. We are hungry for that ring and we are doing everything in our power to get there.
"Set your goals high, and don't stop till you get there."
