
Frogs prepare to open MWC play

FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 31 TCU men's tennis team will open the Mountain West Conference regular season this weekend with contests against Air Force, BYU and UNLV in Las Vegas, Nev. The Horned Frogs will begin with a Thursday contest against Air Force at 4 p.m. CDT.The Frogs are currently 13-5 overall this season and are led by senior Cosmin Cotet, who is ranked No. 29 in singles play. Cotet is 13-5 in dual contests, with five wins coming against ranked opponents, while junior Kriegler Brink is 16-1 and freshman Zach Nichols is 15-3.
Air Force will enter Thursday's contest with a 10-8 overall record. In their last action on Saturday, the Falcons defeated UMKC by a score of 6-1. The Frogs hold a 5-0 all-time advantage over Air Force, including two shutout victories last season.
TCU will face BYU on Friday, who currently holds an overall record of 12-7 this season. The Cougars were edged 4-3 by No. 60 UC-Irvine in their last action on Tuesday. TCU is also unbeaten against BYU, holding a 6-0 advantage. The Horned Frogs downed BYU by a score of 4-3 last season in San Diego, Calif.
The Frogs will wrap up the weekend with a Saturday contest against the 6-8 UNLV Rebels. UNLV fell 7-0 to No. 42 California in their last action on March 18. The Rebels are led by senior Elliot Wronski, who is ranked No. 69 in singles play. TCU holds a 5-1 overall record against UNLV, as the Rebels ended TCU's season last year in the semifinals of the MWC Championship.
