
TCU Rifle finishes third at the NCAA Championships

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The TCU Rifle team wrapped up match play at the NCAA Championships, claiming a third-place finish with an aggregate score of 4,627. The Frogs, who were in second place following the smallbore competition on Friday, shot a 2,315 in air rifle Saturday to earn their highest finish in the NCAA championships in school history. Alaska- Fairbanks claimed their third straight National Championship with an aggregate of 4,662, while Army came in second with a score of 4.652.
Simone Riford led the Frogs on the day with a 586 in air rifle. Erin Lorenzen followed closely with a 582, while Lauren Sullivan finished with a score of 579. Emily Paper rounded out the top four shooters with a 568.
Paper was the lone Frog to reach the finals in either event as she qualified in smallbore. She shot a 94.7 in the final round, finishing with a mark of 675.7 which placed her sixth overall.
On Saturday the Frogs were tied for second after shooting a 2,312 in smallbore. Paper led the team in day one with a score of 581. The rest of the Frogs followed suit with equally impressive scores. Erin Lorenzen fired a score of 579, while Lauren Sullivan and Simone Riford tallied 578 and 574 points, respectively.
