TCU Athletes of the week honored

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Men's tennis student-athlete Kriegler Brink and women's track and field runner Virgil Hodge are TCU's Male and Female Athletes of the Week. The Gulliver's Travel Road Warrior of the Week award has been given to men's track and field runner Sean Zurko.Brink went 6-0 overall in TCU's first week of action, helping lead the Frogs to a 3-0 record. The junior from Gauteng, South Africa, posted straight-set victories over his first three opponents in singles play at the No. 3 position. Brink has never allowed an opponent to win more than three games against him. He also recorded three wins as part of the No. 44 doubles team with Cosmin Cotet.
Hodge, a senior track and field athlete, placed second in the women's 60 meters at the Rod McCravy Invitational with an NCAA provisional time of 7.32, which surpasses the previous meet record set by Cleo Tyson of Tennessee in 2007. Her time in the 60 meters is currently the fastest in the Mountain West Conference and 11th in the country according to TrackShark.com. Hodge's time placed her in the top-40 in the world. Hodge, from St. Kitts, Caribbean, also finished second overall in the women's 200 meters with a time of 23.91, just missing an NCAA provisional mark.
Competing in TCU's third meet of the year, Zurko places third overall in the men's 800 at the Rod McCravy Invitational with an NCAA provisional time of 1:50.17. His time was the top collegiate mark in the event and is currently the fastest in the Mountain West Conference. Zurko is also ranked 11th fastest in the nation according to TrackShark.com. The freshman from Las Vegas, Nev., is the lone person in the MWC to post an NCAA provisional mark in the event and holds the second fastest time ever recorded in MWC history in the men's 800.
