
Men's tennis to open season on Saturday

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU men's tennis team will open the 2008 season on Saturday with a doubleheader against host UT-San Antonio and St. Edward's. The Horned Frogs will meet UT-San Antonio at 10 a.m. and follow with a 3 p.m. contest against St. Edward's.
TCU returns three letterwinners from last year's squad, led by senior Cosmin Cotet, who is ranked No. 27 nationally. Adrian Simon and Zach Nichols are ranked No. 54 and No. 93, respectively, and are two of five freshmen that will look to made immediate impacts for the Frogs.
UT-San Antonio and St. Edward's will also be competing in their first matches of the season on Saturday. UTSA returns four letterwinners this season, including All-Southland Conference selections Adam Becker and Rodrigo Morgado. The Road Runners finished 12-12 last year and advanced to the championship match at the SLC Championships.
St. Edward's will see its first action this weekend after making its second consecutive trip to the Division II Sweet 16 last season. TCU holds an 8-0 all-time advantage over St. Edward's dating back to 1974, but haven't met since 1983 when the Frogs won by a score of 9-0. TCU will meet UTSA for the first time on Saturday.
