Final: TCU 44, Air Force 10
TCU Head Coach Gary Patterson
Opening Statement:
"That's going to be a very good Air Force team. They are young, have good players and they will soon be a force to be reckoned with. We had two weeks to prepare and got ourselves going early. We played like we wanted to win 10 ball games."
On TCU's senior class:
"I've never been to a bad bowl game. For this group, I wish we could have won one more ball game, but if you spend your time wondering what if you take away from their accomplishments. It's a good group. They are a lot of fun. We found out a lot about the character of this group after a tough loss. They could have hung their pads up and quit early. That proves the senior leadership of this team. These guys will be defined in how they have acted and carried themselves off of the field. Young Frog fans have looked up to these guys for four years."
On possible bowl destinations:
"Bowl games are something the kids will remember for the rest of their lives. We want to go to a good bowl game where the kids are treated the best. As long as our players have a great experience and we play well, then it's a great bowl game. You want the best opponent you can have and you want your players to feel appreciated for all of the hard work that they did all year."
TCU sophomore quarterback Andy Dalton
On his team's performance:
"It just shows the potential that this team has on offense. We had two weeks to prepare and we were focused heading into this game. With the extra time, I saw a lot of stuff out there today that we were able to pick up on film. It's nice to come off of a tough loss and execute well."
TCU senior linebacker Jason Phillips
On slowing down the Air Force rushing attack:
"Anytime you get a tough running team like Air Force against a defense like ours, you knew this game was going to be won or lost on the ground. We had two weeks to prepare and get healthy, helping us to play faster."
Air Force Head Coach Troy Calhoun
On his team's performance:
"Both of these teams played pretty well. I think it's obvious that when you play a top-15 team, just how good they are. Offensively, I think they were really good. We didn't have a stop almost until the very end where we were able to stop them on their side of the 50 to try to create a little bit of a field position. Then we had some drives that were three-and-out drives, which against them you can't do."
On his assessment of Falcon quarterback Tim Jefferson's performance:
"I would have to look at the tape. I don't think that it was one of his better games, not at all, and again, they probably had a little bit to do with that, too."
On if he was disappointed in how the offense played:
"You have to play so darn well on the road, especially to beat a top-15 team, and we did not do that today. They did. They played outstanding."
